Why make a smaller Pepper Cannon?

Once you use a Pepper Cannon, you lose the patience required to operate ordinary pepper mills.

Now you can take that performance with you wherever you go.

But it's so small-Surely it can't grind as fast as the original!

It can. And don't call me Shirley.

The Travel Cannon uses the same burrs, adjuster assembly, and dual bearing supported drive shaft as the the original. Same convenient push button top release too.

Why is it still expensive?

The Travel Cannon has the same parts list as the original Pepper Cannon, just in a more compact package. It's as small as we could make it with zero performance compromises.

Why call it the Travel Cannon?



I felt this was the most interesting name for you to explain to the TSA.

Why the rubber top?

The radius of the top determines the mechanical advantage you enjoy while grinding.

Decreasing the width of top makes it harder to turn, so adding the silicone top increases the mechanical advantage. Take it or leave it based on your preference.

Can I grind salt in my Travel Cannon?

No, salt will corrode the stainless steel internals eventually.

Does the Pepper Cannon put out a lot of pepper at all settings?

No, the finer the grind, the less pepper comes out.

You can adjust the Pepper Cannon so fine that pepper stops coming out completely.

We call this setting "invisibly fine" or "inert iocane powder".

Why do you endorse the grind & shake method?

Every pepper mill can drop remnants of pepper after grinding when you set it down.

After grinding, give the Pepper Cannon (or any other pepper mill) one shake above whatever you're seasoning before putting it down.

This helps prevent wasting pepper and leaving pepper where you don't want it.

Will I have to refill my Pepper Cannon frequently?

That depends on your use. The Cannon holds a half cup of peppercorns, which is generous but not excessive.

It's best to store peppercorns in a sealed container to prolong freshness, so we opted against a super large reservoir (and corresponding height) that would take home users a long time to empty.

Plus the Pepper Cannon is so easy to refill that it's no longer a chore. Pop the top, pour in fresh peppercorns, and click the top back on. No need to remove, replace, and recalibrate the Pepper Cannon just to refill it.

Will the Pepper Cannon come pre-filled with peppercorns?

The Pepper Cannon will ship empty, but we offer a variety of premium peppercorns you can pair with your new favorite grinder.

Can I grind red peppercorns, and white peppercorns, and green peppercorns, and coffee, and cloves, and fennel, and anise, and coriander in it?

Yes.

You should get one Pepper Cannon for each of those things though, or your coffee will taste extra bold & special.

Is the Pepper Cannon available in different colors? I want one for each spice!

Currently, the Cannon is only available in black. We're looking at methods of differentiating the mills for those have multiples.

How do I clean my Pepper Cannon?

Wipe the exterior with a warm damp cloth or paper towel. It is recommended to keep the interior of the Pepper Cannon dry. If you must wash it, be certain to dry the interior thoroughly before refilling as it uses dry bearings, and they need to be kept dry. Do not put the Pepper Cannon in the dishwasher.

What if I don’t like pepper?

Purchase a Pepper Cannon to give away to someone who loves cooking.

Right now you're thinking of someone who would love this.

Get one for them.

You'll probably go through more pepper. Also, the Pepper Cannon grinds more peppercorns at once so it requires more force to turn than ordinary mills at some settings.

Building it out of metal enables us to machine precision parts that fit together with exact tolerances so the results are consistent and fast.

Also, aluminum is the most plentiful metal on Earth, is the easiest to recycle, and can be recycled again and again, indefinitely.

Great product.....Poor customer relations

Product works VERY well. If you had answered my email and phone call, made 2 weeks before I bought; you would know that I was worried that it came with no directions (as one person commented on line). It did in fact come without instructions (or a warranty card either) so I am still wondering what the Allen wrench fits or the silver and magenta colored buttons are for. The rubber gasket replacements obviously fit the reservoir on the bottom of the mill. It's a bit annoying that you can't be bothered to answer inquiries on such a pricy product. Without all the product endorsements you enjoy on line; I would have passed on it.

Unguessable Uniqueness

All of the amazing construction and functionality of its big brother but with an added bit of fun. Just present this (in its holster) to friends saying "look at what I've got" and watch the bewilderment. Everyone is immediately impressed with the weight of this strange item. As they look at the holster I point out the fact that this can be worn on your belt. The immediate response is always to ask what it is. I invite them to take it out of the case and the guessing starts. A common first guess is bear spray. Then most people try to expand it as they guess spyglass. Show them how the top is removed and still even people who have pepper grinders don't recognize what they're looking at. It's only when they remove the bottom cap that some people figure it out. Pitmasters and backyard barbecuers love it. Just don't tell the airport TSA agent that you're wearing your portable cannon.

Pocket Cannon

Maybe it’s a little big for a pant pocket but it’s a great mill to have on hand when you’re not home. No more guessing what’s in the pepper shaker when eating out. It’s perfect for the car or your tote. F-ing love everything American about it.

THE Best small Pepper Grinder

I love fresh-ground pepper and use my Pepper Cannon at home all the time, so I couldn’t go camping without quality pepper. This was exactly what I needed.

best grinder

both the pepper cannon and this smaller one are excellent. They maintain the grind perfectly. Set it where u want and it stays there. Excellent quality. I have had no less than 20 pepper grinders and this one I think will be the last. I make my wife carry the travel one in her purse for when we eat out!
